How can I get a Company to Match my Donation?

​As a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, the Alpha Phi Delta Foundation, Inc. (tax id #31-1005845) is often eligible for corporate matches. Many companies encourage charitable giving by matching employee contributions to public charities. Your generous contributions to the Foundation can go even further with a matching gift from your employer, and you, as the employee, receive credit for the gift.

This means if you contribute $500 to the Foundation, the Foundation will receive an additional $500 from your company at no cost to you! Some companies that match, and in bold are the ones that have matched to the foundation:

While this is a very worthwhile effort, and doubles your contribution, it may take some effort to get approved. To make it easier, here are some common steps that may be required. Note that some companies require you to make the contribution through them, and will not match contributions made directly to a charity.. So we recommend doing some research first. Some common steps are:

• ​Find out from HR or Benefits how to get a charity approved, and if they will match contributions made already.

• Most firms have exclusions such as "Fraternal or social service organizations (e.g., national college fraternity and/or sorority chapters, local social clubs) are not eligible". Do not let this stop you! We are a 501(c)3 charitable Foundation, not a social fraternity. Very often, the first, and often a second request is denied. You must persevere; eventually they will approve. Feel free to contact the foundation for any assistance.

• Request that the Alpha Phi Delta Foundation is added to the approved charities. Some may ask some questions about the organization​​​​. Our Mission Statement: To provide financial and educational assistance and leadership experience to deserving college students.
