As a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, the Alpha Phi Delta Foundation, Inc. (tax id #31-1005845) is often eligible for corporate matches. Many companies encourage charitable giving by matching employee contributions to public charities. Your generous contributions to the Foundation can go even further with a matching gift from your employer, and you, as the employee, receive credit for the gift.
This means if you contribute $500 to the Foundation, the Foundation will receive an additional $500 from your company at no cost to you! Some companies that match, and in bold are the ones that have matched to the foundation:
Activition Blizzard * AIG * Alliance Bernstein * Allstate * American Express * Amgen * Apple, Inc * Bank of America * Bayer * Boeing * Boston Scientific * Bristol-Myers Squibb * Chubb * Coca Cola * Comcast * Disney * Exxon * General Electric * Google * Home Depot * Johnson & Johnson * JP Morgan Chase * Lincoln Financial Group * Lone Pine Capital * Microsoft * Neighborworks Capital * Nike * Paypal Giving Fund * PepsiCo * Pfizer * Prudential * PWC * Soros Fund Management * Starbucks * State Farm * UBS * Verizon *** and many others, to see a longer, but not exhaustive list, click here.
While this is a very worthwhile effort, and doubles your contribution, it may take some effort to get approved. To make it easier, here are some common steps that may be required. Note that some companies require you to make the contribution through them, and will not match contributions made directly to a charity.. So we recommend doing some research first. Some common steps are:
- Find out from HR or Benefits how to get a charity approved, and if they will match contributions made already.
- Most firms have exclusions such as "Fraternal or social service organizations (e.g., national college fraternity and/or sorority chapters, local social clubs) are not eligible". Do not let this stop you! We are a 501(c)3 charitable Foundation, not a social fraternity. Very often, the first, and often a second request is denied. You must persevere; eventually they will approve. Feel free to contact the foundation for any assistance.
- Request that the Alpha Phi Delta Foundation is added to the approved charities. Some may ask some questions about the organization

The Four Primary Foundation Funds
APD Cares
Brothers Helping Brothers This program is designed to assist brothers in financial distress due to a Presidentially declared disaster, such as hurricanes or earthquakes. In the event of devastation due to an event like Hurricane Sandy or Hurricane Harvey, applications for assistance can be filled out. Don’t wait for the next disaster to hit. Please help us fund this so we are in a position to help brothers in need. Click here to learn more about APD Cares. |
Leadership
Perhaps no other college experience prepares one for future leadership better that the fraternity experience. There are few more challenging positions than that of a chapter officer. Through grants from the Foundation, Alpha Phi Delta hosts leadership conferences across the country for chapter members and officers each year. Publications (Kleos)
Communication is the key to success. Our Kleos is the key method of staying in touch with every brother and providing the link to lifetime affiliation. Our annual Impact Report that is distributed to Foundation Donors highlights each years activities. Click here to see the current Kleos and view the Kleos archives dating back to the 1929 edition! Scholarship
