9/19/2016

PictureVincent Muffoletto, PNP
With deep regret, the Fraternity reports to you the passing of Past National President Vincent Muffoletto. His fraternal obituary is as follows:

Vincent J. Muffoletto
Epsilon '46
29th National President (1968-1970)
Born: July 18, 1923
Initiated: Fall, 1946
Deceased: September 19, 2016

Vincent J. Muffoletto was born July 18, 1923 to Salvatore and Lucy Muffoletto. He attended Hutchinson Central High School in Buffalo where one of his instructors was Professor Ferdinand F. DiBartolo, one of our Fraternity's founders. Following his service in World War II, during which time he was a Prison of War, he enrolled at the University of Buffalo, pledged Alpha Phi Delta at our Epsilon Chapter in 1946, Vincent would go on to serve as Chapter Consul, Chapter Quaestor, Interfraternity Council Treasurer and the Fraternity's Delegate to the National Interfraternity Conference in 1950.

As an alumnus he served as President of the Buffalo Alumni Club, 1961-1962, was a prime-mover in organizing the Buffalo Alumni Convention Club, and was a member of the National Housing Corporation for several years. In 1966 he represented Alpha Phi Delta in the fight against the New York State University System’s abolition of fraternities on the Buffalo campus.

Brother Muffoletto is best remembered for his service as Alpha Phi Delta's National President, 1968-1970 and previously as National Vice President, 1966-1968. He also served as a Trustee of the National Housing Committee (which was a forerunner of the Alpha Phi Delta Foundation). Many of us remember Brother Muffoletto at several recent National Conventions and at the 2014 Centennial Gala. Most recently, he was an inspirational mover behind the establishment of the Naples Alumni Club.

Brother Muffoletto was a certified public accountant and was a partner in the firm of Muffoletto and Kuehn in Buffalo. He and his wife Theresa had four children. The oldest, James, followed in his father’s footsteps both at Buffalo University and in Alpha Phi Delta; initiated in 1965. In the tradition of eternal activity and support, Brother Muffoletto and his son James endowed an Alpha Phi Delta Scholarship to assist those students now and in the future meet their financial needs.

Brother Muffoletto passed away on September 19, 2016 from a heart attack, at the age of 93, just a few months short of his 70th anniversary as a brother of Alpha Phi Delta.

FRATERNAL OBITUARY
Born on July 21, 1914, Joseph W. Randazzo was inducted into Eta Chapter (City College of New York) in 1934. In 1936 he graduated with a B.S. in Education. Since teaching positions were practically nonexistent, he took a job as a proofreader and eventually worked in the Government Printing Office in Washington. Drafted into the Army in March 1943, he served in Europe for 30 months. After the war, he reestablished residence in New York and returned to his old trade as a printer-proofreader.
In 1962 he joined the Long Island Alumni Club. He served in all the offices and eventually took over the duties as editor of the Long Island Alumni Club Newsletter in 1972. His monthly newsy journal described in great detail the gastronomic offerings of the Roslyn Café, the frequent meeting place of the Club, along with updates on the doings of club members. He continued producing the Club’s Newsletter for some 30 years.

As a result of his endeavors, he was chosen Outstanding Alumnus in 1976. In 1978, he volunteered to lend his talents to Central Office and took on the responsibilities of National Calligrapher; hundreds of membership scrolls and charters were hand inscribed through the end of 1993. Brother Randazzo was the first recipient of the Fraternity's Vincent Larcy Communications Award in 1983. He served as an associate editor of The Kleos, and served as a proofreader of the first two editions, 1973 and 2000, of "The History of Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity."

Just a few weeks after his 100th birthday Brother Randazzo attended the Fraternity's Centennial Convention in nearby Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with members of his family. He was married to the former Ann Varvano; they had two daughters and four grandchildren.

Fraternity Mourns Loss of Past National Chaplain Fr. Ronald Falotico

12/3/2015

Picture
It is with deep regret that Central Office announces the passing of Past National Chaplain, Fr. Ronald S. Falotico on December 3, 2015, at the age of 72. Born in Camden, New Jersey on February 1, 1943, Fr. Falotico studies for the Priesthood at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland and was ordained a Priest on May 31, 1969 in Camden by Bishop George H. Guilfoyle. He was appointed National Chaplain of Alpha Phi Delta in 1992 by National President Joseph Rossi.

His first two assignments were as a parochial vicar at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Vineland, New Jersey and St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Camden. He was served as a Pastor at three parishes: Holy Spirit, Atlantic City (1985-96); St. Peter, Pleasantville (1996-2004); and Queen of Angels, Landisville (2004-05). Father Falotico also spent much of his more than 40 years as active ministry in service to Hispanic Catholics. He was assigned to the Brigeton-Millville Spanish Apostolate (1974-78); served as assistant director of the Vineland Catholic Spanish Center (1983-85); and in Hispanic Ministry at St. Nicholas, Egg Harbor City (2006-10), while also serving at a Parochial Vicar at St. Joseph's in Hammonton.

Following his retirement, he continued his service to God, as part-time chaplain at Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

"Fr. Ron" as he was known to our Fraternity brothers was initiated into Gamma Mu Chapter (Richard Stockton College) on January 23, 1992. He held the office of National Chaplain from 1992-1996, and was a visible presence at National Council Meetings of the Fraternity during that period. He was a joyful figure in his role as Chaplain and is well remembered by our brotherhood.

Central Office asks that our Chapters and Alumni entities have a moment of silence in his memory (as well as in memory of all of our deceased Past Chaplains) at their next meetings.

Fr. Falotico (Gamma Mu) who served from 1992-96, was the last living Past National Chaplain who had been a Priest or Religious Order Brother; in the Chapter Eternal he now joins Fr. Salvatore Federici (Psi) who served from 1950-68; Br. Camillus Casey (Beta Sigma) who served from 1968-81; Fr. Leonard Tuozzolo (Psi) who served from 1986-92; and Fr. Albert Cervella (Beta Delta) who served from 1997-2003.
