Our Delta Chi Chapter will partake in an initiative to improve the quality of life on the University Hill (pictured below) in Boulder, Colorado near the University of Colorado, for its residents, businesses and visitors by carrying out a clean up program. This is part of the University of Colorado’s IFC’s Hillanthropy program in which many Greek organizations engage clean-up initiatives. The program was created in 2015
Gamma Iota Chapter held a virtual fundraiser (it was done virtually, due to campus restrictions at Pace University) to raise money for its philanthropy, Operation Homefront. The Chapter is proud to announce that, although limited in the way it can fundraise, it was able to raise $150 in a short period of time for this worthy charity. Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive — not simply struggle to get by — in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Operation Homefront specifically provide short-term critical financial assistance to help military families with food, utilities, home repairs, rent; transitional housing; caregiver support; programs to recognize military spouses; baby showers to help military moms; holiday programs to provide meals and toys; school supplies for military kids.
The brothers of Epsilon Nu, this fall, continue their Chapter’s service to the local community by providing manpower and generous care to assist in the running of a local food pantry which is operated by St. Luke’s Church in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Each month, the Food Pantry that the brothers help to operate reaches more and more area people in need of the pantry’s assistance. The Food Pantry is run in cooperation with the Central Pennsylvania Food Ban
Beta Omicron has been raising money for Youngstown State University’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon, known as Guinathon. All proceeds from the event go to our local Akron Children’s Hospital. Beta Omicron Chapter has raised over $3,400 dollars collectively for the organization. The funds raised by the Chapter have come from receiving donations from family and friends. One brother, Frank Viera, teamed up with multiple recent alumni members to put on a D.J. fundraising Livestream that raised over $1,600 in one night
Every Sunday, this fall semester, brothers from our Epsilon Nu Chapter have gone to the local branch of the Rails to Trails Conservancy and provided manpower for a local conservation project to clear invasive tree species and plant native trees in areas in and around Altoona. They do this work in concert with a local conservationist. The Rails to Trails Conservancy is a non-profit organization that takes former railway corridors and helps transform them in to scenic and usable trails — creating trail networks that connect people and places. |
