2015 Alpha Phi Delta Scholarship Winners

48 Alpha Phi Delta Scholarships were announced at the 2015 Convention in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Anthony Carfang Award ($3,500) Established by the 36th National President. Anthony has served as a Scholarship Trustee and a Foundation Director. He is the all-time leading financial donor to The Alpha Phi Delta Foundation.
Christopher Albright
Chris is starting graduate studies in Optometry after having graduated St. Francis (Pa) College with a 3.8 GPA. He served Beta Lambda in elected positions, but his passion for chemistry led him to community service where he developed a chemistry outreach program for kids. Chris also serves as the president of the chemistry club. His chemistry professor and advisor states it best, “Chris takes leadership roles to ensure that the effort is complete”.
Stanley Raffa Award ($2,500) Established by the 30th National President. Stan held every top position in the Alpha Phi Delta including President, Vice President, Secretary, District Governor, Kleos Editor and Scholarship Chairman.
Joshua Semier
With a 3.8 GPA, Joshua is entering his junior year at Duquesne University. He is a healthcare management major and hopes to eventually continue his education in graduate school. Joshua is an active Psi chapter brother and has chaired events for the chapter. His community work with disabled individuals has played a significant role in his development as a student in the healthcare industry. His District Governor says, “he fits the mold of a leader”.
Brooklyn Alumni Club Award ($2,000) The award of the Brooklyn Alumni Club.
Intashan Chowdhury
A sophomore brother of Delta Omicron chapter at Rutgers, Newark, he was a leader as a freshman. He maintains a 3.8 GPA and hopes to work in government service after obtaining his MPA. He and his family have struggled to overcome adversity, but that did not stop Intashan from soaring in freshman year as a student government senator. Intashan was selected to intern for U.S. Senator Booker, and founded an area youth program aimed at enhancing cultural identity and providing young people with the tools to succeed. His brothers say, “he makes those around him better”.

Nicole Torchia
Nicole is the daughter of brother Anthony Torchia. She is a senior physician’s assistant major and a leader at Northeast University. Nicole has received the university’s Presidential Award for Outstanding Scholarship and maintains a 4.0 GPA. She also teaches health topics in underprivileged schools and counsels families of children with medical issues.
Ernest Coletti Award ($1,500) Established by the Mohawk Valley Alumni Club & former District Gov.Ernest Coletti.
Joseph Lach, Jr.
The nephew of Psi brother Roger Ross, Joseph attends nurse anesthetist graduate school. A graduate of Robert Morris University with an A average, he was president of his class for two years. His advisor comments that he has “remarkable skills”.
John J. Hadgkiss Centennial Scholarship ($1,500) Funded by Beta Rho alumnus John Hadgkiss, who has served Alpha Phi Delta in many positions including Scholarship Trustee and Foundation Executive Director.
Patrick Donohue
A Briarcliff College Colony founder, president of the student government and captain of the lacrosse team, Patrick is a proud veteran who states “before APD, I was a terrible student. This is a priceless bond that I was longing for since returning home”. Welcome aboard Pat !

Amanda Rosinski
Having excelled as an undergraduate and with her masters studies, Amanda is a previous scholarship winner who now is pursuing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. With a history of volunteerism in the community, Amanda is also a research assistant in her program. She is described by her mentoring professor as “competent, compassionate and patient”. Amanda is the sister-in-law of PNP Nick Franki.

Noah is president of the Beta Lambda Alumni Association and chapter advisor. He is completing his MBA full-time. The Dean of his business school states he has a “high potential to succeed as a manager”.
Felix Infausto Scholarship ($1,000) Established by his widow Clara Infausto in her will. Bro. Infausto was inducted into Epsilon chapter in 1929. He was a national leader in the enactment of interstate laws to protect children. Mrs. Infausto’s gift establishing this scholarship is the largest single donation in the history of Alpha Phi Delta Scholarship.
Michael Garcia
An accounting major pursuing a masters degree with hopes of becoming an auditor, Michael is a Gamma Sigma brother at St. John’s University. He maintained a 3.8 GPA throughout his undergraduate career and was a Dean’s List honoree throughout college. Michael held official positions in Greek and leadership honor societies.
Lillian Anastasio Family Scholarship ($1,000) Established by her children including Theta Beta alumnus Neil Anastasio, who is a scholarship trustee and has served as Kleos Editor & Vice President of Good & Welfare.
Kevin Kraus
A senior at St. Francis University, he was a two time chapter president at Beta Lambda. Kevin is a senior studying environmental engineering and remains active in student government. His district governor says “even as a pledge, his leadership was evident”.
Long Island Alumni Club John Pasta Award ($1,000) Established by the LIAC in honor of the 7th Grand Consul.
Keith Moulton
Keith is a brother at Beta Rho, Gannon University and is a senior majoring in mechanical engineering. He is a member of the engineering honor society and an honors student. Keith works part time and still maintains a 3.96 GPA while performing community service. His career ambition is to design jet engines.

Paul J Sciullo II Memorial Award ($1,000) An American hero & Psi brother, Paul was killed in the line of duty as a Pittsburgh police officer. He became a police officer at age 35 telling his mother he was leaving more lucrative employment in the private sector, because he wanted to “make a difference.”
Michele Mellick
Michele is the granddaughter of Richard Mellick Sr., Psi ’55. She attends Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania and maintains a 4.0 GPA entering her senior year as a psychology major. Michelle is president of her class and captain of the dance team.
Richard Rau Scholarship Award ($1,000) In honor of the late Richard Rau who died while attending St. Francis College by his fraternity brothers from Beta Sigma chapter.

Brendan is the son of brother Robert Dente and attends the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Honors College. He is a sophomore in chemical engineering with a 3.98 GPA. He has done summer work with Engineers Without Borders applying modern technology to purify water in third world countries.

A Navy veteran and junior majoring in cyber security & information assurance, James maintains a 3.6 GPA at Utica College. At Beta Iota, he has been described as relentlessly ensuring that the task is done the proper way. He states, “My life as a student has been improved immeasurably with my involvement in APD.”
Adam DiVincenzo Award ($500) In honor of the 21st Grand Consul and longtime National Secretary.
Matthew Modany
A Delta Upsilon brother at Robert Morris University, Matt is a senior studying marketing. He is working toward a career in advertising. Matt is a chapter officer and student government representative. His District Governor says he is a “true example of a leader”.

Joseph is a sophomore accounting major with a 3.5 GPA at Pace University. He was the Gamma Iota team captain for fundraisers as well as a chapter officer. As the IFC recruitment chair, Joe was successful in promoting fraternal life on campus.

A brother of Gamma Sigma chapter at St. John’s University, he is a junior risk management major with a 3.4 GPA. Samy supports himself financially and finds time to tutor children in a soup kitchen while they are there for meals.

Marco is a graduate accounting major enrolled in an MBA program at St. Joseph’s College. He remains a colony leader at the Brooklyn campus and graduated with a 3.8 GPA. Marco is a former winner of the Santo Barbarino Scholarship.

Eta Chapter Award Honoring Joseph Randazzo ($500) Established at the Centennial Convention in 2014 by the alumni of the City College of New York and other friends of Joseph Randazzo, who celebrated his 100th birthday that year. Joe was the long time editor of the Long Island Alumni Club Newsletter and official proofreader for APD.
Frank Wamsley
Frank attends Notre Dame University on a Provost Scholarship. He is a sophomore studying psychology and maintains a 3.8 GPA, with the hope assisting struggling children and families as a clinical psychologist. Frank is the grandson of brother Frank Susca, Eta chapter.
Fabrizio Family Award ($500) Established by Paul Fabrizio and family. Paul is a scholarship trustee and has held many positions in Alpha Phi Delta.

Alana attends Bloomsburg University, Pennsylvania, and is the daughter of alumnus Joseph O’Rourke. She majors in environmental geosciences and is entering her sophomore year with a 3.6 GPA. Her professor describes her as a “high achiever”.

Yotam is a senior studying international criminal justice at John Jay College in New York. He has been Delta Epsilon chapter president and captain of the men’s soccer team.

Louis J. Mauriello Award ($500) Established by his family in his honor, Brother Mauriello was inducted into Eta Chapter at The City College of New York in 1934.

She is the granddaughter of Kenneth Camisa, Eta chapter, City College of N.Y. Alexis attends Adelphi University and is a sophomore theater design major. Alexis maintains a 3.5 GPA.

Mancusi Family Award ($500) Created by 52nd National President Chris Mancusi to honor Alberto & Angelina Mancusi who immigrated to America in the middle of the 20th century as well as their relatives in Ischia, Italy.
Monica Carocci
Monica is the granddaughter of Sam Carocci. She attends the Honors College at Elmira College and is a junior psychology major hoping to pursue her master’s degree. Monica maintains a 3.9 GPA and has been described as a talented tutor in the college’s writing center.
Modica Family Award ($500) Created by Theta Beta alumnus Thomas Modica and his family in memory of their parents Joseph & Violet.
Sergio Mejia

Khang is an active member of Delta Beta chapter at Rutgers University. Hurricane Sandy devastated his family’s home and with two siblings in college and a special needs brother, finances are tough.
