NATIONAL CONVENTION
— HOST HOTEL IS HOST TO A HOST OF US
Our 2009 National Convention was held from July 31st - August 3rd
at the Lancaster Host Hotel and Resort in Lancaster, Pa. National
Convention Chairman John Russo and his committee played host to
some 190 brothers and their guests. It was a tremendously good time
for one and all. It was also our best attended convention since the
early 1980s! If you missed this Convention you missed out on a lot –
next year make sure you attend.
AND THE WINNERS ARE…
At the Awards Banquet – the key event – at the National Convention
many brothers and entities were honored with our National Awards.
Here’s the rundown:
Outstanding Undergrad.–Lawrence Cittadino, Gamma Mu (Stockton) ’06
Outstanding Alumnus – Peter Gaudiuso, Theta Beta (NYU) ’82
Outstanding Chapter – Delta Delta (Wesley College)
Most Improved Chapter – Delta Chi (U. Colorado)
Outstanding Alumni Club – Colorado Alumni Club
Outstanding Community Service – Delta Chi (U. Colorado)
Outstanding District – New York City
CONVENTION SPORTS: UNDERGRADS WIN SOFTBALL GAME
The Undergraduates tromped the Alumni by a score of 8-6 at the
National Convention’s Annual Alumni vs. the Undergraduates
Softball Game. Many of our elderly alumni (Joe Rahtelli, Mike
Iacovelli, Pete Gaudiuso) attributed the loss to the absence of the
almost quasi-semi-professional baseball player, New York City
District Governor Chris Mancusi — who chose to sleep in and miss
the game. I guess the saying is true: You snooze; you lose…
especially when the game is softball.
